Death planning, made human

Get your affairs in order — for the people you love.

Composed is a calm place for the things nobody wants to think about: what your family would need, who to call, what you'd want. One page to start. A workbook to keep. And, when the time comes, urns and keepsakes chosen with care and priced honestly.

The Composed Kit — a fill-in planning workbook
Free · two pages · twenty minutes

Start here. Twenty minutes, and your people are covered.

The start page is the short version of the whole job: the nine things your family would need in the first week, and one page for where things are kept. Fill it in, save it to your own drive, tell one person where it is. That's it.

It never asks for a password or an account number — only where things live — so it's safe to keep in a drawer. And it stays on your device. We never see your answers.

You'll also get a short note from Composed now and then. Unsubscribe any time.

Inside The Composed Kit — the 20-minute start page
The Composed Kit · $19.99

A planning kit you own, not a subscription you rent.

Eighty-four pages, twelve short sections, plain language. Where everything is, who to call, what you want — plus a first-week checklist for your family and a yearly review page so it stays true. Fill in what you know, leave the rest for later, come back at your own pace.

Composed Memorials

Urns and keepsakes, chosen with care.

Funeral homes often mark urns up two to four times. You're allowed to bring your own — federal law says so — and most families just don't know it. Ours are the same quality, at honest prices, with free US shipping in a plain box. We can ship straight to your funeral home.

If it's happening now

What to do when someone dies — the first week.

Nothing is urgent except the first two lines. Truly. The rest can go in roughly this order, and most of it can wait a day or two. We wrote it down so you don't have to remember.

Read the first-week checklist
  • If they died at home and it was expected: call hospice or their doctor. If not expected: call 911.
  • Call the person in charge, and the funeral home if one is named.
  • Ask for ten certified death certificates. Every account will want its own.
  • Find the will. Don't open a safe-deposit box alone.
  • One notebook. Every call, every name, every date.
About

A small shop built on one idea.

The practical side of loss should feel like care, not paperwork. Composed started as a checklist for our own family in Ontario, California, and became a workbook, then a place to find an urn without being sold one. Every piece here is chosen by hand — nothing is listed just because a catalog had it.
